Argyle Avenue Raised Pedestrian Crossing

The City of Ryde is committed to improving pedestrian safety and access as part of the Active Transport to School stream of the FY2024/25 Get NSW Active program. The Active Travel to School infrastructure program aims to encourage children to safely walk and ride to school.

As part of this commitment, Council will be installing a new raised pedestrian crossing threshold and associated works on Argyle Avenue (near No. 28 & 57).

What will the work involve?

Council has undertaken detailed engineering design and investigations to improve pedestrian and road traffic safety. The following improvements are proposed at the locations specified above:

  • New pedestrian crossing
  • Signposting
  • Pedestrian fencing
  • New lighting
  • New kerbs, ramp and asphalt pavement works
When will the work take place?

Construction for the main works will be during the school holidays in January 2025 (weather dependent).

Installation of new light poles is likely to be during school holidays in April 2025 (weather dependent).
