Cycleway - connecting Macquarie Park and West Ryde

City of Ryde is committed to the delivery and maintenance of high-quality infrastructure including safe and sustainable cycleways for our community.

As part of the commitment of the Bicycle Strategy 2022-2030, Council is working to deliver the Regional Route 03 (RR03) - Cycleway connecting Macquarie Park and West Ryde in 2025.

The work is anticipated to commence in March 2025 and is expected to be complete in December 2025, weather and site conditions permitting. Construction will occur in stages throughout the year.

What will the works include?

The RR03 cycleway is divided into three sections:

The works will be undertaken in stages (however not necessarily in the above order) and includes:

  • widening the concrete pathway within Tuckwell Park, Macquarie Park
  • construction of new concrete footpaths, driveways, refuge islands, and kerbs and gutters
  • DDA bus stop compliance (meets requirements of Disability Discrimination Act 1992)
  • widening footpath and new kerb ramps
  • reapplying old and applying new line markings and cycle markings
  • supply and installation of wayfinding signs

A work notification with further details will be provided to adjacent properties closer to the start of construction for each section.

Upcoming Works

Khartoum Road, Macquarie Park

When will the work on Khartoum Road take place?

The construction work is anticipated to commence in March 2025. A further work notification will be provided closer to the start of construction with more details on the construction times.

What will the work on Khartoum Road include?
  • Construction of new concrete footpaths, driveways, refuge Island and kerbs and gutter.
  • DDA bus stop compliance (meets requirements of Disability Discrimination Act 1992).
  • Widening footpath and new kerb ramps.
  • New line markings, cycle markings and wayfinding signs.
  • Installation of statutory “No Stopping” signage.

Will there be any parking arrangement changes at Khartoum Road?

It is expected that four-five '12P Ticket' on-street parking spots will be removed to allow for the kerb ramps at Khartoum Road near the intersection of Talavera Road, Macquarie Park.

How will traffic be affected during the construction?

On-street parking and driveway access will be affected at times during the work. Our contractor will liaise with affected properties in advance of any restrictions and work to minimise any inconvenience. Traffic control will be in place when required to assist with access through the area.
