Cycleway - connecting Macquarie Park and West Ryde

City of Ryde is committed to the delivery and maintenance of high-quality infrastructure including safe and sustainable cycleways for our community.

As part of the commitment of the Bicycle Strategy 2022-2030, Council delivered the Regional Route 03 (RR03) - Cycleway connecting Macquarie Park and West Ryde in 2025. 

What did the works include?

The RR03 cycleway is divided into three sections:

The works were undertaken in stages (however not necessarily in the above order) and included:

  • widening the concrete pathway within Tuckwell Park, Macquarie Park
  • construction of new concrete footpaths, driveways, refuge islands, and kerbs and gutters
  • DDA bus stop compliance (meets requirements of Disability Discrimination Act 1992)
  • widening footpath and new kerb ramps
  • reapplying old and applying new line markings and cycle markings
  • supply and installation of wayfinding signs  


Completed Works

Khartoum Road, Macquarie Park (concrete driveway work)

The concrete driveway work on Khartoum Road, Macquarie Park, as part of the RR03 were completed in April/May 2025.

Tuckwell Park, Macquarie Park

As part of RR03, a bicycle/pedestrian shared path was delivered along the sports field at Tuckwell Park, Macquarie Park.

The work was completed in September 2025.

What did the work in Tuckwell Park involve?

The work included demolition of sections of existing pathway along the sports field and reconstruction of a wider bicycle/pedestrian shared path.

Commissioners Road, West Ryde

As part of RR03, a speed hump was delivered on Commissioners Road.

The work was completed in September 2025.

What did the work on Commissioners Road include?

The work included installation of a speed cushion on Commissioners Road as part of the project’s traffic calming measures.

Section A | Macquarie Park

Section A includes Fontenoy Road, Khartoum Road, Waterloo Road at Macquarie Park.

The work included kerb and gutter renewal, new concrete footpath, concrete driveway pavement and construction of refuge islands.

The work was completed in December 2025.

Section B | Ryde

Section B includes Ford Street, Quarry Road, Heath Street, North Road, Heath Lane, Rickard Street at Ryde 

The work included landscaping, line marking and cycleway marking, and wayfinding signage.

The work was completed in November 2025.

Section C | West Ryde

Section C includes Blaxland Road, Anzac Avenue, Wattle Street at West Ryde 

The work included a kerb ramp and new concrete footpath pavement.

The work was completed in November 2025.
