Melrose Park South Planning Precinct
City of Ryde has made a submission to the City of Parramatta regarding the Planning Proposal for the Melrose Park South Planning Precinct. The planning proposal proposes to permit a mix of high-density residential, public open space and non-residential uses.
The City of Ryde's submission highlights concerns over the impact that the current proposal and the resulting future development will have on the adjacent communities within the City of Ryde local government area and the provision of infrastructure and services to the surrounding community. The submission seeks further consideration to ensure that the future development is sufficiently supported by infrastructure, services and sound urban design:
- The need for additional open space, community and recreation services and facilities
- A shortfall in transport and traffic infrastructure.

What's next?
The public exhibition of the draft Planning Proposal, draft Site-Specific development control plan and draft Planning Agreement concluded on 21 September 2022. City of Parramatta Council officers are currently reviewing submissions received, including that from the City of Ryde. The outcomes of the public exhibition will be reported to the Local Planning Panel and City of Parramatta Council. Details on the reporting timeframes will be provided by City of Parramatta when confirmed.
While the City of Ryde is not the responsible authority for the development of the site, given the potential impact and reliance on local and State infrastructure within the City of Ryde, we will continue to monitor the progress of the development and advocate for appropriate outcomes.
