Eastwood Library is sprouting a new community group, the First Tuesday Chinese Gardening Club.

Each session will have morning tea and opportunity to share your gardening experiences. Bring along some cuttings to swap with fellow enthusiasts or simply take a photo of your plants to show off.

We will also dig into new topics every month, which may be a special guests, or run hands-on activities like creating tiny terrariums and pressed flower art.

Come and be part of our friendly and growing community!

The group will meet at Eastwood Library every first Tuesday of the month from 10:30am -11:30am starting on the 1st of April 2025.

WHAT WE ARE PLANNING:

Guest presenters: invite guest presenters average one per quarter. Examples, Sunny (from SBS), Bush Care, the Habitat, The Eastwood Gardening group (external group), Council Waste Team, Eastwood District Orchid Circle, gardening authors.

Workshops run by facilitator/group members/library staff: such as soil management, planting techniques, pest control, seasonal gardening tips, terrariums, pressed flower art, Japanese flower art, balcony gardening, and other creative "plant based" workshops (not just for vegans!).

Other special events: plant/seed/cutting exchange, Eastwood Seed Library making packets and packing seeds.

Cultural gardening practices: explore traditional Chinese gardening techniques and philosophies, such as Feng Shui in garden design or the cultivation of plants significant in Chinese culture, like bamboo, peonies, and chrysanthemums.

园艺之友兴趣小组

好消息！ 伊士活图书馆已成立了园艺兴趣小组: “园艺之友”. 若你热爱园艺, 诚邀你一起来参与。

"园艺之友” 具备茶点供应. 参加者可以在小组内和其他园艺爱好者交换植物, 也可以展示园艺植物照片, 是彼此分享园艺经验的好机会.

“园艺之友” 每月均以不同形式, 探讨不同主题。形式包括邀请有经验的讲者分享心得, 或一同制作小手艺, 例如多肉小盆栽和干花美术等。

"园艺之友” 将于2025年四月一日正式开始, 每个月的第一个星期二早上十点半至十一点半在伊士活图书馆举行。

让大家一起建立一个和谐友爱的园艺之友小组!

小组形式/内容计划如下：

讲座：我们会轮流邀请客座主持人演说不同主题. 他们是分别来自市政局, 社区组织的专家。

工作坊： 主题包括土壤管理, 害虫防治, 季节性园艺贴士, 微景观植物生态态瓶, 押花艺术, 露台园艺, 及其他具创意的, 以植物为基础的工作坊。(不只适合素食者）

其他特别活动：植物/种子/插枝交换,; 种子图书馆种子小包制作。

传统种植法：探讨中国传统园艺技术及原理, 如风水花园设计; 培植传统中国重要植物花卉（竹, 牡丹,菊花）的重要性等。
