The changes to the on-street parking meter fees aim to ensure a fairer and more consistent fee structure where short term stays pay the same hourly rate as long term stays. This will reduce the incentive to stay long hours and allow for other workers to use these spaces. It will also encourage workers to reassess their transport options and potentially move onto public transport thereby reducing traffic congestion in Macquarie Park.
What are the existing on–street parking meter fees?
$2.50 per hour with 12P in some locations (meaning all day parking permitted) at a capped rate of $11.00.
There are approximately 1300 on street parking spaces, with approximately 500 of these being 12 hour parking areas.
