Council Resolution - Planning Proposal - Heritage Review 2019
Published on 08 January 2020
The Planning Proposal - Heritage Review 2019 was tabled at Council Meeting on 12 December 2019.
At its meeting on 12 December 2019, Council endorsed reforms that will provide stronger protections for items and areas of heritage significance across the local community.
Under the reforms, more than 300 items will have various forms of heritage protection. This includes three new heritage conservation areas, individual Federation buildings and Inter-War bungalows, public parks and street tree boulevards.
Heritage Items
Council resolved not to proceed with listing individual private dwellings where the owner objected to the listing during the exhibition period. A list of the items that have been included in the amended Planning Proposal can be viewed here.(PDF, 865KB)
Heritage Conservation Areas
Council resolved to remove 3 of the proposed Heritage Conservation Areas (HCAs) and to amend the property boundary of the Darvall Estate HCA.
Next Steps
As Council does not have the authority to finalise the changes, Council also resolved to recommend to the NSW Minister for Planning that the changes be made and gazetted.
