City of Ryde has received requests from residents in Owen Street, Gladesville, for consideration to be given to address parking behaviour and driveway access issues in the street.
To assist residents with parking and driveway access issues, Council is proposing the following improvements
- ‘PARK IN BAYS ONLY’ restrictions and associated on-street parking bay linemarkings
The spacing of driveways along Owen Street has resulted in some drivers parking their vehicles between the driveways where the space is not long enough to accommodate their vehicle. In some instances these parked vehicles have blocked entry/exit access to the driveways.
To address this issue, Council is proposing to install linemarkings to establish standard length on-street parking bays, along with associated 'PARK IN BAYS ONLY' signage. Any vehicles parked outside the parking bays are then liable to be infringed.
In addition to these improvements, Council will install ‘NO PARKING’ restrictions in the cul-de-sac in Owen Street in order to allow sufficient space for large vehicles, including waste-collection vehicles, to manoeuvre and turnaround in the end of the street. Additionally, ‘NO STOPPING’ signage will be installed near the intersection with Buffalo Road to formalise the statutory 10 metre ‘NO STOPPING’ zones.
