City of Ryde is seeking feedback on a proposal to modify the existing parking signage on the eastern side of East Parade, north of First Avenue, Eastwood. The proposal will replace the existing time restricted ‘No Parking – 6:30am – 9:30am’ and ‘No Parking – 3:30pm – 6:30pm’ zone to a full time ‘No Stopping’ along this section to allow for smooth flow of traffic to the traffic lights.
WHAT ARE THE PROPOSED CHANGES?
In order to improve flow of traffic to the signalised intersection, Council is proposing to extend the existing No Stopping zone on the eastern side of East Parade, near 6 East Parade, by replacing the existing ‘No Parking, 6:30am – 9:30am’ and ‘No Parking – 3:30pm – 6:30pm’.
WHY IS THE CHANGE BEING CONSIDERED?
In 2018 Council undertook a Traffic and Parking study in Eastwood town centre which identified the opportunities to improve traffic and parking conditions. The proposed change will improve the performance of traffic lights and address the traffic congestion issues at the intersection of East Parade and First Avenue.
