Last year, the City of Ryde sought feedback on a proposal to introduce ‘NO PARKING’ from 5:00am to 11:00am Thursday in Bird Street, Ryde, to improve access for waste collection trucks. Based on the feedback received, the proposal has been revised with a reduced length of the parking restriction.
WHAT ARE THE PROPOSED CHANGES?
In order to improve access for waste collection trucks, Council is proposing to introduce 35 metres of ‘NO PARKING 5AM-11AM THURSDAY’ along the inside of the bend near to 25 Bird Street Ryde.
The ‘NO PARKING’ restrictions would be in effect from 5:00am to 11:00am on Thursday mornings only.
WHY IS THE CHANGE BEING CONSIDERED?
Council’s waste collection trucks are currently having difficulty manoeuvring around the bend when cars are parked on both sides of the road near 25 Bird Street. The proposal aims at minimising the loss of on-street car spaces while at the same time ensuring access for waste collection trucks.
