In November 2015, the City of Ryde sought feedback on a proposal to make changes to on-street parking meter fees in Macquarie Park. During the consultation, Council received feedback regarding a lack of available on-street parking spaces for visitors and contractors. As a result, Council is investigating a change to some existing on-street parking from 12P (12 hour) paid parking spaces to 2P (2 hour) paid parking spaces. The purpose of the change is to improve the availability of parking spaces for visitors and contractors in the area.
As part of the investigation, Council has approved a six-month trial to commence on Monday 20 March 2017, with a report to Council on the results of the trial.
WHERE WILL THE CHANGES TAKE PLACE?
The new 2P (2 hour) paid parking spaces will be installed at the following locations, as shown on the map below:
- 8 of the 103 spaces in Giffnock Avenue,
- 8 of the 60 spaces in Lyon Park Road,
- 8 of the 62 spaces in Byfield Street, and
- 4 of the 40 spaces in Eden Park Drive.
These locations are adjacent to businesses that have shown interest in the changes through Connect Macquarie Park + North Ryde.
The new time limits will be indicated by additional signage at the locations, and we encourage you to inform your employees and visitors of the upcoming changes.
The changes will also include one new dedicated car share parking space on Lyon Park Road. This space will be indicated by signs identifying it is for car share vehicle parking only.
