In 2018, City of Ryde asked for our community's input on how Meadowbank Park can be managed, protected and improved now and into the future. Based on your feedback, Council prepared a Masterplan which was adopted in November 2019 and is being delivered in stages.

At the same time, Council was drafting an updated Plan of Management. Council has been unable to progress the Plan of Management until recent Native Title Future Acts were considered by the Federal Court.

The draft Plan of Management has been prepared and approved by Council and the Minister responsible for Crown Lands for public exhibition. The draft Plan of Management is now on public exhibition until Sunday 1 June 2025.

The purpose of the draft Plan of Management is to identify objectives, targets and propose strategies to protect and guide future maintenance and management of Meadowbank Park.

A high resolution version of the Draft Plan of Management is available here:

Council welcomes your feedback on the draft Plan of Management and proposed actions. See below for information on how you can Have Your Say.

About Meadowbank Park

Meadowbank Park is one of our major sporting and recreation areas in the City of Ryde.

Throughout the year it accommodates sport competitions and training needs. The park also facilitates diverse passive, active and informal use, including the skatepark opened in 2019 and a regional playground completed in 2023. The playground has been integrated into the landscape and provides a range of equipment and surfaces that are accessible and inclusive to all children.

Why is a Plan of Management needed?

The draft Plan of Management for Meadowbank Park identifies objectives, targets and proposes strategies to protect and guide the future maintenance and management of this Park, in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993 and Crown Land Management Act 2016.

This Plan applies to Community land owned by City Ryde and Crown land owned by the NSW State Government. They are managed under the Local Government Act 1993 and the Crown Land Management Act 2016. The Plan integrates management practices for both Community land and Crown land and will consider community feedback received during this public exhibition.

Next Steps

Following the public exhibition period, Council will consider the feedback received and further refine the Draft Plan of Management, if required.

A report will then be presented to Council in mid 2025 for adoption. Any latest updates will be available on this page.
