Sustainability Festival

2024 SusFest

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year’s Sustainability Festival in celebration of World Environment Day! Despite the rainy weather and last minute change of venue it was a great turn out and a fun day for all. We had approximately 1500 attend the event throughout the day.

We had 16 external stalls, 6 Council stalls including Libraries, Waste and Recycling, Resilience, Sustainability, Parks and Transport as well as 7 workshops running concurrently throughout the day.

Kids and adults alike could create an ecofriendly masterpiece including Australian Environmental Education’s insect hotels, Buddhas Light International Association terrariums and Reverse Garbage’s recycled art. The kids enjoyed getting hands on with Bush Adventures and playing with big, recycled materials in our Loose Play Parts workshop. The Australian Wildlife Displays were a big hit and people learned all about our amazing native creatures. Macquarie University wowed the crowds with raspberry energy experiments and Moss House taught people how to make their own sauerkraut and natural face creams.

Amanda Thomas added to the acoustic vibes in the morning and the kids loved Spaghetti Confetti’s energetic set throughout the second half of the day.

A large number of people embraced sustainable transport including bikes, buses and trains.

A very special thank you goes out to this year’s event sponsor, the Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club. Thank you for allowing us to show resilience in action by providing us with an alternative dry undercover space at such short notice!

We hope you had a great time at this annual event, visiting the stalls, taking part in the workshops and other interactive activities and learning about how we can all live more sustainably.
