3D artwork from newspaper & fabric to make a unique head and face that is embracing sustainability

Join Michelle "The Creative Teacher" Robinson to create art from a collection of eclectic waste items including paper ephemera, recycled haberdashery and fabric, yarn, plastic and paper packaging and cardboard.

In this workshop create 3D mixed artwork from newspaper & fabric to make a unique head and face that is embracing sustainability.

All art materials will be provided to support and encourage participants to begin their artwork on the day and to use the resource to continue at home. Participants will be encouraged to look at their own ‘waste’ produced at home as a rich source of art materials. Participants are encouraged to enter their artwork created on the day into the annual SWAP competition.

BOOKINGS ESSENTIAL.

Brought to you in association with SWAP and City of Ryde Smarter, Cleaner, Greener Waste Management.

Did you know your creations in our April School Holiday SWAP Recycling Workshops can be entered into the Sustainable Waste 2 Art prize?

The Sustainable Waste 2 Art Prize (SWAP) is an environmental art competition that aims to raise awareness of environmental issues and encourage positive behaviour change using artworks and design objects made from upcycled waste materials as mediums of communication.

There’s $5,000 in prizes across six categories. Prizes will be awarded based on the upcycling of waste materials, environmental messaging and artistic merit.

Artworks and design objects will be selected for exhibition at See Street Gallery, Meadowbank TAFE and there will be an opening night on 4 Sept 2025. More information to come.

We have a range of educational resources and videos for inspiration, advice on creating your own masterpiece and tips on photographing your artwork.

Entries are open 1 April 2025 and close on 27 July 2025
