Discover, Create, and Connect!
The City of Ryde invites you to be part of "Common Threads", a unique community art initiative celebrating cultural diversity and connection. Led by professional local artist Tom Isaacs, this interactive workshop provides an opportunity to express your creativity, share your story, and contribute to a larger community celebration.
About the Artist:
Tom Isaacs is an emerging artist and PhD candidate at the Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney. His artistic practice explores themes of mental health, mortality, and the human condition, with a primary focus on performance art. His work also extends to sculpture, painting, and textile art, offering a multidisciplinary approach to deeply personal and universal themes.
Drawing inspiration from art history, psychoanalytic theory, and personal experience, Tom’s performances reflect a profound engagement with the complexities of mental illness and the desire for healing. His acclaimed work Pietà (2020), exhibited at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre, received heartfelt praise for its ability to move and connect with audiences.
