Join us at Ryde Library as Australian photographer and author Constantine Korsovitis shares insights from his newly launched book

A unique Author's Platform book launch event with Constantine Korsovitis looking at the distinctive artform of shadow puppetry. Through stunning photography and personal encounters, A Life in Shadows reveals the craftsmanship, rituals, and stories behind wayang kulit and nang talung. Discover how this intricate art form has evolved, its challenges in the modern era, and why it remains a powerful force in storytelling and cultural identity. Limited copies of the book will be available for purchase via cash on the day.

Looking at the multidisciplinary artform and how it develops itself in the culture and values of Southeast Asia and how it interweaves with the philosophy of life of that region and identity of the people. Based in Athens, Constantine Korsovitis is an Australian artist/photographer from Sydney. Korsovitis’ work has been exhibited at various galleries, museums, institutions and photo festivals around the world. Collaboration is an important part of his practice, exploring themes of identity, transformation and masculinity.

Don't miss this opportunity to hear directly from the author, see breathtaking images from his travels, and gain a deeper appreciation for shadow theatre’s place in Southeast Asian heritage.

This event is co-presented with Union Internationale de la Marionnette (UNIMA - International Puppetry Association) and City of Ryde Libraries.
