Join in this 4 day Masterclass for an introduction to the art of Comedy and Improvisation with a Professional Teaching Artist and Comedy Expert!

Course Components

Theatrical skills such as spontaneity, accepting and extending offers, character, emotion and status - and how these can be applied to any scene.
Practical application of improvisation techniques through short-form scene work with other students
Creating a character through creative exercises as a group
Creative story-building for comedic conflict and scene premise
Overview and investigations of comedy techniques, such as: heightening, exaggeration, objective, obstacle, POV, double takes, breaking expectations and creating tension
Introduction to physical comedy
Reflection and Q&A with teaching artist

Age: Students in School Years 10-12 in 2025

Dates: Monday 14th April - Thursday 17th April 2025.

Time: Monday - Thursday 1:30pm - 4:30pm

Venue: Marsfield Community Centre, 1A Trafalgar Place, Marsfield

Performance Details:

Date: Thursday 17th April 2025

Time: 4:10pm

Venue: Marsfield Community Centre

Duration: Approximately 20mins.

FAQ’s

Do I have to book for the whole week?

Yes – students are working towards a performance on the last day, so they need attend the full week to create and rehearse for the performance.

This is a free course, however, fees will be applied for late pick up. Please pick up your student promptly or inform the office if they are ok to make their own way home.
