A special memorial 111th anniversary commemoration service will be held to honour the estimated 1.5 million victims of the Armenian Genocide, one of the first recorded genocides of the Twentieth Century.

In 2005, the City of Ryde officially recognised the Armenian Genocide with a memorial plaque honouring the estimated one and a half million Armenians who were eliminated from their historic homeland in Turkey through forced deportations and massacres between 1915 - 1918.
