Is entry free?

Australia Day Celebrations is a free family event. 

What happens to lost property?

Lost property can be taken to the Information tent (see map). Items will be returned to their owners who are able to correctly identify the items. Any items that are not claimed will be taken back to the City of Ryde offices you can then contact customer service (9952 8222) post event to collect items.

What is the procedure for lost children/persons?

Let’s hope this doesn’t happen but if you do find a lost child or lose your child go to the Information Tent (see map) or St Johns immediately. Staff will work with security reunite lost children with their carers as soon as possible.

There are wrist bands available at the Information tent for you to write your contact details on and secure on your child’s wrist.

Please note that adult supervision is required at all children activities by carers. 

Inclement Weather?

City of Ryde events team will monitor the weather leading up to the event and will notify the public of any updates via the City of Ryde website and social media pages.

Is there disability drop off zone?

There is a disability drop off zone located at Ross Smith Ave.

How do I get there?

Meadowbank train station and bus stop is located near the event and we encourage everyone to travel via train where possible.

What time are the fireworks at Meadowbank Park?

Australia Day fireworks will go off at 9.00pm.

 

Will there be entertainment?

Yes, there will be a variety of performances throughout the day. To see full stage schedule click here.

Will there be activities for kids?

There are a huge variety of activities for kids to enjoy, including kids sports inflatables, skate workshop, free face painting, craft activities and much more!

Are there any Competitions?

We have our annual Thong throwing competition at 6.30pm. Please head to our competitions page for more information. 

Can you BYO own alcohol to the event?

No, this is an alcohol free event.

What should I bring?

  • Suitable clothes for weather on the day
  • Reusable water bottle and bag
  • Sunscreen, hats and UV protected clothing
  • Eftpos/ Credit Card

What about Waste at the Festival?

City of Ryde is committed to a sustainable environment and our Australia Day Celebrations al is designated as a ‘Waste Wise Event.’ We encourage festival attendees to bring their own bags and re-useable water bottles as no plastic water bottles or plastic bags can be sold at the event. Several water stations will be available across the day.

Can I bring my children?

Yes, this event is open to all age groups.

Can we bring dogs?

Yes, small to medium size dogs are allowed within the event area. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and is the responsibility of the owner to ensure the dog does not impact other attendees’ experience. We do however recommend that you keep pets indoors during the fireworks.

Is there food available?

There will be food trucks, ice cream and a sausage sizzle onsite available for the purchase.  

Do you have ATM's onsite?

No, there will be no ATM's onsite to provide cash out. If you wish to bring cash, please arrange before coming to the venue. All vendors will have a cashless payment option available. 

Is there seating available?

There will be limited seating available. We do encourage patrons to BYO low lying chair or picnic rugs.

Can you smoke onsite?

No smoking or vaping onsite.

Can I bring my pram to the event?

Yes, but please be considerate of where you are placing your pram to not obstruct walkways or view of entertainment for other patrons.

 

Can I bring my own food?

Yes, we allow patrons to bring their own food, be that a picnic or takeaway. There will be food trucks and a sausage sizzle onsite throughout the event to purchase.  Please make sure you discard all your rubbish at the end of the night. 

What happens with any photos or videos that might be taken of me whilst I am at the event?

We will have a photographer at the event. Photographs taken at the event may be used in future for promotional purposes. 

Is there parking available?

There is limited parking available at Meadowbank Park. We do encourage event patrons to use public transport. 

Is this site accessible for people with restricted mobility?
