Problem Waste Drop-Off Stations
What is a problem waste drop-off station?
The Problem Waste Drop-off Stations are for City of Ryde residents to safely dispose of household hazardous waste items that are not allowed in your kerbside red, yellow or green lid bins.
These items include household batteries, mobile phones and accessories, ink cartridges and light bulbs and globes.
If problem waste is placed in any of your kerbside bins, they can contribute to contamination of recyclable products or leachate in landfill. They also contain heavy metals and components harmful to human health and the environment so it is best to dispose of them safely and correctly!
What is accepted at a problem waste drop-off station?
Household batteries
Batteries used in cameras, torches, toys, appliances. Any brand of AA, AAA, C, D and 9V batteries (both rechargeable and non-rechargeable). Aldi supermarkets offer a free battery recycling service at all of their Australian stores.
Note: Please do not bring in any leaky batteries. Car batteries are NOT accepted.
Fluorescent light globes and bulbs
All sized compact fluorescent globes (energy efficient globes) - household lights only.
Note: Please do not bring broken light globes. Fluorescent tubes are NOT accepted.
