The City of Ryde (‘Council’) today reports that Ms Aneesh Zahra has resigned as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) effective 31 May 2024, to pursue a new opportunity within local government.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Wayne Rylands thanked Ms. Zahra for her significant contribution to Council and the local community, since commencing in the CFO role in January 2022.

“It was Aneesh who uncovered the wrongful use and/or management of Council’s externally restricted reserves and potentially saved our Council from being sent into Administration. Aneesh has had to work in a very challenging environment but has remained determined and committed to addressing the previous financial malpractices within Council and developed the financial safeguards that will ensure open and transparent financial operations by the City of Ryde in the future,” Mr Rylands said today.

“I want to take this opportunity to publicly thank Aneesh for her service to Council and we wish her well with her future endeavours.”

Council will commence a recruitment process for a new CFO shortly.
