Council held an Extraordinary Meeting on Monday 16 December 2024. The following is a summary of outcomes from the meeting:

Rescission Motion – 1 Devlin Street Ryde

A Rescission Motion against the resolution passed at the Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday 10 December 2024 regarding site options at 1 Devlin Street, Ryde was defeated.

Mayoral Minute – moving forward with Ryde’s civic centre

Council noted that the Mayor was elected with an overwhelming mandate from the community to deliver on the commitments made during the election campaign, particularly resolving the future of the 1 Devlin Street site in the best interests of the community. Council will continue to ensure maximum transparency and engagement by sharing detailed information about the 1 Devlin Street proposal through all available media channels and committing to keeping local residents fully informed. Council calls upon all Councillors to collaborate constructively, setting aside political differences to prioritise the community’s interests and achieve the shared goal of delivering a Ryde Town Hall during this term of office. It noted with disappointment that some Councillors who sought to overturn the resolution regarding 1 Devlin Street failed to attend the Councillor workshop briefing session or the on-site inspection of the Devlin Street/Blaxland Road complex during the Councillors’ induction program, demonstrating a lack of engagement in this critical project.
