Clr Jordan Lane was last night elected as the new City of Ryde Mayor. At 27 years of age, he is the youngest Mayor in Ryde’s history.

Clr Lane – a Councillor from the East Ward – was elected to the position of Mayor by his fellow Councillors. He said it was an honour and a privilege to be elected to the position of Mayor.

“The City of Ryde has been my home for my entire life. I love the people and want to ensure this Council continues to deliver a positive future for all of those who work and live here,” Clr Lane said.

“Since I was elected as Councillor, I have fought hard to support the 10,000 small and family businesses located in the City of Ryde during one of the most economically challenging periods ever faced. I will continue to do this in my new role as Mayor, while also ensuring transparent decision-making in the interests of all residents.

“I would like to thank my fellow Councillors and the people of the City of Ryde for allowing me to serve as their Mayor and I look forward to working with them over the next Council term as we implement our progressive reform agenda.”

Clr Roy Maggio – a Councillor from the East Ward – was re-elected as City of Ryde Deputy Mayor.

“As we begin a new Council term, I look forward to a collaborative new era, one that puts the interests of every City of Ryde resident at the forefront of each decision that we make,” Clr Maggio said.

“I’d like to thank the Councillors that supported me tonight and congratulate Clr Lane on his election as Mayor.
