Tell us a bit about who you are and what kind of creative work you make?
I am Shohreh Motabar, a 47-year-old artist from Iran. In addition to painting I also specialise in handcrafts, such as decoupage. I also have degrees in the field of interior design, hairdressing, beauty, and sewing.
Whereabouts do you look for creative ideas? Who or what inspires you?
In my opinion art is the heart of life. I love colour and colours make me feel good. Each colour has its own energy. And anything can inspire an artist. It depends on the emotions and circumstances.
What is a project that you’ve worked on that you’re really proud of? Why?
I made a statue more than one metre tall which I made based on my own feelings. When it was finished, it became a symbol of life and growth, because its base is in the shape of a desert, and a naked woman grows on it and a lotus flower grows from the desert and twists around the woman.
What is your favorite part of working as an artist/creative?
All the steps are beautiful and good, but when the work is finished you have a special feeling that you have created something.
